3D provides a depth of perception that simply can’t be achieved in standard 2D – or even in stereoscopy without glasses. It can give a more immersive sense of being inside a scenario or situation and can help us to understand complex science or situations in a way that’s hard to achieve with 2D.
Dome films use polarising filters in front of the projector to present left and right images for each eye – this is known as passive 3D. Alternatively, 3D can be created without glasses using INFITEC technology which uses a silver screen to separate wavelengths. This is more commonly used in cinemas, but it’s also regularly seen in dome and other immersive experiences.

The dome has a unique soft wrap around quality and offers several contrast options. It features 1.5 and 2.5-stop front diffusion fabrics and a removable internal baffle that can be used to manipulate the initial point source of light.
It is important to note that this dome doesn’t offer as much protection from water drops as the other two, so you’ll want to make sure that it is covered up or use a Rain X spray (or equivalent) to minimize water drop marks on your lens. It will still be a great choice for underwater photographers and cinematographers who are looking for a high-quality, versatile product that can be utilized in many different scenarios.
